My Successful AIPF Panel, April 16th 2011 :)
Today was such a nerve racking day, but thankfully it was so worth it :) Myself and Scott travelled to the IPF distinction sitting in Athlone and I can very, very happily say that he and I are now Associate's of the Irish Photographic Federation :)
My written statement:
Once upon a time, many decades ago, I was born into a family who loved to tell tales. Every day they read me fairy-tales and tall-tales which filled my head with magic and wonder.
Years later when I grew up and had a family of my own I told them the same stories. I loved how strange and magical lands could be conjured out of the words on the pages.
I began to make sets and textures out of books and paper and to layer my photographs along with my images of friends and family. My aim was to bring to life representations of the stories that had spun around inside my head for so long.
This is how these fifteen images came to life.
Each image depicts its own story, but all are linked by make believe.
Are you sitting comfortably?
Then let me begin...
